Huntington Ingalls Industries agreed to buy Hydriod

As reported by the Maritime Executive, Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) agreed to buy the marine robotics company Hydroid. Previously, Kongsberg Maritime owned Hydroid.

Hydroid designs & manufactures the REMUS series of underwater unmanned vehicles (UUVs). In addition, late last year, Hydriod took over responsibility for Kongsberg’s Seaglider long-endurance research drone product line.

Hydroid’s advanced capabilities and reputation for excellence in autonomous and unmanned maritime systems provide the perfect complement to our existing unmanned operations.

HII President and CEO Mike Petters

Above all, Cyprus Subsea continues to support Seaglider customers during this transition. We are looking forward to strengthening our working relationship with Huntington Ingalls Industries.
